Most people know of my love for the design files. A truly unique design blog that continually inspires. My sister and I trekked off today into Windsor and found a perfect park out the front – the sign of a good day! Busy as expected, we walked in to the design files open house full of hope and expectation. At first look, I was very pleased with the styling and the furniture layout. However, upon closer inspection, I must say I was a little disappointed. Don’t get me wrong, I loved everything in the house and I loved the way it was all displayed. However, I did hope to see more new pieces from new designers rather than mostly the same as 2011. I suppose if it works, stick with it, but I had hoped the open house concept would continually evolve each year and continue to push boundaries. It was pleasing to see that the same designers themselves had evolved, but it seemed a little too much like last year all the same.
New things I loved:
- New artists on the walls (loved the neon resin frames too)
- Jardan’s new furniture
- Bonnie and Neil’s new prints
- Made by Mosey’s new feather garland
- The swing in the kids room – only the coolest of stylists put swings inside (haha!)
I still loved the house and I will still continue to go every year, I was just very surprised at the lack of difference from 2011. All in all, good job TDF, see you next year! xx
